Poetics of Shape #32
This body of work plays on Gaston Bachelard’s 1958 book about architecture called The Poetics of Space. In his book Bachelard’s focus was on the personal, emotional response to architectural spaces.
In creating this series of 52 monotypes in 2020 I was having the time of my life. Going with a play of colour and hand-cut shapes. Juxtaposing, overlaying, shifting, overprinting. Delighting in the surprises as the paper is lifted.
These monotype works are printed on 220gsm Fabriano Rosapina paper measuring 50 x 70 cm. They are poster-like, vibrant, authentic works.
